The relief of the municipality of Elin Pelin is high-plain, semi-mountainous and mountainous. The boiler bottom, which is located between 539 m and 600 m above sea level, is very well developed.
On the territory of the municipality are located ognyanovo dam and micro dam Taratorovo above the village of Gabra. The municipality has three geothermal springs. With state status is the spring in the town of Ravno Pole, where the mineral composition of the water and the flow allow the development of a spa center.
The natural climatic conditions and built traditions create extremely favorable prerequisites for the development of agriculture in the municipality. Livestock farming is developed on personal holdings, mainly advocated for the rearing of milk cows, sheep, goats and pigs. Only in the agricultural cooperative "Progress" in the village of Easily the concentrated rearing of cattle and sheep is preserved. A number of negatives determine the trend of reducing the number of animals, as well as milk and meat production.

In the city there are numerous traces of old settlements and fortresses. Through the territory of the municipality passes the so-called "Trayanov drum" from the 2nd century. The Thracian settlements and tombstones and the finds in them testify to a high spiritual and material culture. Roman and Byzantine culture also left significant traces. Near the village of Easily, near the Roman road (3rd century) there was a large road station called Buragara (also found as Bugaraka). Southwest of the town of Elin Pelin found and studied by archaeologists the remains of a roadside watchtower (guard) with a small settlement adjacent to it (4th century). Again, remains were also found from a later Slavic settlement that lasted until the initial period of Turkish rule. Three kilometers south of Novi Han village are poorly preserved ruins of a Thracian settlement with a fortress wall. In several places to the west of the village there are remnants of Roman settlements.
The church "St. Nicholas the Miracle Worker" in the city of Stolnik is preserved. Near the town of Eleshnitsa there was also a Bulgarian fortress, destroyed during the invasion of the Turks. 4 km from the same village is the Eleshnik Monastery, which is one of the monasteries of the so-called Sofia Mala Sveta Gora, built in the 15th century. In the XVI-XVIII century it was a bustling literary center. Valuable frescoes from the 16th and 19th centuries are preserved in his church "Our Lady".
A big role in its development was the construction of the railway line Sofia - Saranbey (September) and the creation of the first ceramic factory in the country - "Isis", located 4 km south of the current city.
